BTS’s Suga Begins Military Service to Fulfill Mandatory Duty

Big Hit Music announced on the 17th that Suga (real name Min Yoongi), a member of BTS, will commence his military service on the 22nd to fulfill his military duty. Suga is the third BTS member to fulfill his military duty, with Jin enlisting last December and J-Hope in April of this year.

Unlike other members, Suga will be serving as a social service agent. The specific reason for his assignment as a social service agent has not been officially disclosed, but some speculate that it may be related to the surgery he underwent in 2020 to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Suga has been active as a rapper and music producer in BTS and released his first official solo album, 'D-DAY,' in April of this year. The album achieved over 1 million sales on the day of its release and also reached the 2nd spot on the Billboard 200, the main Billboard album chart. He also held a solo world tour in 10 cities around the world this year, attracting over 300,000 audience members.
